DEPARTMENTAL PROFILE

G.L. CHOUDHURY COLLEGE, BARPETA ROAD

From the year of establishment of G. L. Choudhury College, Barpeta Road i.e.1990, UG , BA was introduced under Gauhati University and in the year 2020 Government of Assam Vide letter no: AHE 594/2018/20 has declared officially the faculty and staff strength of the Science Stream of G. L. Choudhury College and it has started its UG, B.Sc. programme from the Academic Session 2021-22. The Department of Botany has been introduced from the very inception of the Science Stream in the College.

In the Department, with the approval of Governing Body of G. L. Choudhury College, Govt. of Assam has appointed Dr. Jyotishmita Dutta, Monish Paul as Assistant Professors and Dr. Jyotishmita Dutta has been given the charge of the Head of the department and both of them joined the college on 26-02-2021. Hereafter, Ringhoilal Chorei another faculty member of the Department have been  appointed by the Govt. of Assam who joined the department as Assistant Professor on 24-09-2022. And they have been working in the department till date.

With the introduction of Science Stream in G.L. Choudhury College, the Department of Botany, G.L. Choudhury College was established in the year 2021 as an undergraduate department. The Department has been offering both Honours and Regular courses while promoting quality education. The department have three permanent faculty members having different subject specialization and are also skilled in using various ICT tools which provides better teaching learning experience.
