• ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

From the year of establishment of G. L. Choudhury College, Barpeta Road i.e.1990, UG , BA was introduced under Gauhati University and in the year 2020 Government of Assam Vide letter no: AHE 594/2018/20 has declared officially the faculty and staff strength of the Science Stream of G. L. Choudhury College and it has started its UG, B.Sc. programme from the Academic Session 2021-22. The Department of Chemistry has been introduced from the very inception of the establishment of Science Stream.

In the Department, with the approval of Governing Body of G. L. Choudhury College, Govt. of Assam has appointed Dr. Jyoti Prasad Biswas as an Assistant Professors and Dr. Biswas has been given the charge of the Head of the department and he joined the college on 26-02-2021. Hereafter, Dr. Mrinaly Suri  and Ms. Mwina Basumatary, another two faculty members of the Department have been  appointed by the Govt. of Assam who joined the department as Assistant Professor on 24-09-2022.
